The Challenges to Economic Theory and Policy in the Aftermath of the Global Economic Crisis

Undoubtedly, the global financial and economic crisis of 2008-2009 represents the most important episode in the economic history of the world after World War II. What initially began as a pure financial turmoil, later on, it turned out to be a worldwide disaster, forcing prominent financial institutions to collapse, causing countries to become virtually bankrupt and prompting governments to engage in massive interventionism of unprecedented scale and form. As such, the crisis provides an exciting topic for scholars, businessmen and policy makers to discuss and to share their ideas on both the crisis causes and consequences.

Specifically, the Conference will cover the following broad themes:

Economic theory and key macroeconomic policies
